Way more complex than anything else from them with nice spicy and fruity notes underlying the sweetish malt. Slight vanilla on the finish. DId a side by side with Sam Adams Winter Lager and I preferred this, but only slightly. gws57 (1148), Saint Charles, Illinois, USA

Clear, dark reddish brown pour with a lacy head, a very mild chocolatey nose with a little bit of malt, the flavor is overwhelmingly vanilla extract, a biting, carbonated mouthfeel, and a strong, alcoholic finish. Pretty decent! Metalhead (572), Lake Zurich, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 26, 2006 I can’t understand why so many people hate this. Perhaps because it’s the "Bud" brewer. Cut em some slack. It’s deep amber with a mild head, aroma is mild malt and vanilla(bourbon cask nowhere to be found in aroma or taste). Flavor is mild sweet malt and vanilla. Decent enough mouthfeel for a macrobrew. actually pretty smooth.Better that 90% of the Sam Adams stuff so I give em an E for effort. Goes well with honey roasted nuts. Not bad for grocery store beer. Worth a shot. Veeve (312), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 5/5 | 11/20 | Feb 24, 2007 had this in the past and liked it, but basically mooched off of my friend MIke at our poker game last night and just stole the bottle out of his hand. (I know it wasn’t cool but hey...) first impression - creamy mouthfeel, well carbonated, tiniest bit fizzy. softly refreshing. smells a lot like earthy woods, vanilla and alcohol. taste of vanilla is even stronger as well as the alcohol. its a bit like cream soda with intense sugary flavoring stirred in. woodsy, earthy, smokiness. middle to finish permeates with strong, caramel and sweet malts. subtle hints of hops. this beer has gotten really low ratings overall which surprises me. is it the best beer I’ve ever had? certainly not. but its really quite tasty. I would’ve had more than one if it’d been my beer to drink. oldrtybastrd (1846), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Aromas of vanilla, fruit, and a hint of spice. Flavor is sweet, mellow. I expected some sort of bourbon or wood flavor. But there wasn’t any. Great A-B product. natedoggkc (164), Lenexa, Kansas, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 19, 2006 Pours amber in color. Aroma is a lot of vanilla and sweetness. I taste some of the bourbon and definately the vanilla which for some reason was very pleasant. I enjoy this beer in spurts and am surprised that it is made by Anheuser-Busch. I like it on draft over the bottle. BigBen2120 (688), Derry, New Hampshire, USA

Tastes like wood and vanilla... On the high end of medium-bodied. Not the best beer I’ve had, but not a bad little ale, and pretty good for an AB beer.
