Oakes (6979), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Mar 5, 2006 Slightly hazy amber. Dark fruits with walnuts in the aroma. The palate is tart, fruity, nutty. Alcohol comes in late. omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Feb 20, 2006 Draught at the Brouwer’s Cafe, Seattle. Chestnut brown. Fairly dry and generously hoppy. There’s roasty malt, molasses and lemon as well as some licorice. Salty bitter finish. 5000 (2400), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Feb 18, 2006 Draught @ Brouwer’s Café: Dark amber, reddish tones, moderate to large foamy off-white head, lively carbonation, fairly sticky lacing. Nose is somewhat non-descript, seems slightly sweet with a musty wet hop and malt tinge.
Flavor up front is of powered Kool-aid, seriously. Semi-sweet, but quickly becoming a tad astringent on the backside. Light malt character, hops much the same. Seems a bit dry on the finish. Somewhat odd with that powdery drink mix flavor hitting me right up front. Finishes with a bit of citrus and light hop bitterness, but its quite soft on the malt. Still kinda has that somewhat sugary kid drink flavor to it tho. Weird to say the least...
glkaiser (999), Seattle, Washington, USA Feb 18, 2006 Updated: Jun 9, 2007On tap at Brouwer’s. Dark reddish brown with a white creamy head that sticks around. Couldn’t pick up much aroma. Very smooth beer on first sip, storng malt presence. Pick up a decent amount of hops after a few sips. Bitter finish. OK.
