This was much better, with a light straw body and persistent meringue head. This had a good light ale taste with a prominent hop character, much more than you’d get with, say, a Genny Cream.
The first bottle I tried was labeled Orange Moose Beer for the Orange Moose Bar & Grill at Black River Falls’ Best Western Arrowhead Lodge, which has a big Fiberglas orange moose facing the Interstate. I got this one in a sampler sixer at the local IGA. Had a pleasant smell, and poured a good sudsy head atop a light orange, slightly hazy body. At first it seemed nicely done, if a bit corny. But then toward the end, I got a sting of chloro phenol that distracted from the experience. But now with a second bottle, I’m raising my rating. redlem (1155), Illinois, USA

Roasted malt aroma with some spruce mixed in there somewhere. Malty flavor, dry finish. Some wheat flavors come out in later sips. Decent at best. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 26, 2003 Medium dark golden amber color with a thin, lacey off-white head that dissolves quickly. Smell of floral hops very fresh but very light, it reminded me of a summery open field. Great creamy start to the taste, wonderful smoothness with some notes of fresh hops, fruit sugars, herbs and a malt balanced in well. The malt flavor in this cream ale is great, I really liked it. Smooth and good medium body feel in the mouth and around the tongue. PorterPounder (3138), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Apr 29, 2003 Has a Scotch Ale flavor to it in my opinion. Odd, hard to pin down aroma that is at first unpleasant - a bit yeasty, a bit malty - grows on you after a while. Appearance - looks like a fine Single Malt (minus the head of course). Strong finish. Flavor - a bit complex - and hard to pin down - kind of sweet and yeasty. Overall, a decent ale. Aurelius (2648), Tallahassee, Florida, USA

Complex flavor, reminds me some of white sherry -- oaky, German and US hops mixed, some fruit, and fairly bitter. Moderate, crisp bitter finish. JPDIPSO (4912), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 2, 2003 I really miss the original brewery. Deep golden color with a two finger off white head. Light malt and mild hops aroma. Light fruit sweetness balanced by a a dry subtle hops flavor. A clean and refreshing cream ale. DigsWierdBeer (11), omaha, Nebraska, USA
