Bottle - 330ml. Dark copper/brown body with low carbonation and a decent off-white foamy head. Strong vineous aroma that carries hoppy, plummy and spicy hints. Sharp hoppy taste with plummy and some subtle roasty notes. Ends with a long, warming bitter finish. Excellent!

Pours a dark ruby-brown with a huge, pillowy head. The aroma has ripe fruits - apples, cherries, and some raspberries, as well as raisins and some honey-malt. Very good flavor, and perhaps slightly too lively a mouthfeel. Somewhat like the spicy notes from an Abt were lent to the malt / hop balance of an American red ale. This one tastes like it’s trying to be the Westmalle dubbel, but it doesn’t live up. It has a somewhat astringent aftertaste (stemming from notes of black pepper) that I wasn’t a fan of. It’s good, but there are certainly others I’d grab before I got another one of these.

Cloudy brown with a small off-white head. Aroma has raisins, dates, bubblegum, and some caramelly malt. Dry and somewhat hoppy flavour with fruity notes and a slightly peppry spicy finish.

[1779-20081014] 330mL bottle. Pencil lead wood and mild grasses and herbs aroma. Hazy, dark brown body with a long-lasting creamy light tan head. Muted pencil lead wood flavour has a hint of fishy yeast. Medium-full body. Good, enjoyable.

Clear reddish brown with medium beige head. Sweet aroma with spices, roasted malt and hoppy notes. Sweet flavour with plenty of hops for a dubbel. Roasted malt and caramel notes.

2008-10-14. Ruby touched brown body with a modest foamy beige haed. (3+) Intersting aroma, light floral notes, sweet base. Similar flavour, light hops and florals, sweet sugary malt base. (7+) Smooth average to medium bodied palate. (3+) Pretty decent but likely would not stand out in a crowd of Belgian brews. Bottle from Belgium trip

Pours brown with a white head. Smells of dark fruit, caramel, tea, light spice. Tastes spicy and fruity with a tarte finish. Some good floral hints emerge as this one warms up. Enjoyable.
