| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 11, 2008 (bottle from who knows when) Pours hazy gold with a medium white head that lingers. Aroma is a bit odd, on first smell I got a lot of Vic’s vapo rub which was unappealing to say the least. This rounds a bit to a little more coriander and orange that is a vast improvement to the initial aroma. Some banana peeks through with further warming. Taste is very understated with just a hint of banana, some dry bready yeast, and a little kick of spice at the end. Maybe a bit of orange zest appears as well. I have no idea how old this bottle was, as I bought it at a clearance price, but I will have to give it a re-rate with a fresher sample. kidmartinek (981), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 17, 2008 Pours with a mess of Belgian foam, surprise, surprise. Looks like a blond in the glass fter the fanfare subsides. Nice and cloudy. Frothy head settles down to 1/4 inch. Smells like pleasant mild malt with a hint of banana. Tastes os full, complex, yeasty, mellow, with wood undertones, very smooth, and a little malty. Palate is enjoyable, full, with a small bite, and a little burn on the way down. Finish is clean and flavorful like the beer. Overall, it has a bit of woody blandness. That’s the only drawback.
