beachbum25 (602), Powellville, Maryland, USA Apr 19, 2008 On tap-poured black w/a moderate head. Standard Stout aroma, Standard Stout flavor; coffee, roasted malt, a little chocolate, a little interest. Just thought this was very average/boring. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing to make it stand out either. You can drink it, but there is a lot better stuff out there. Thin, watery finish.
RunningBeerGuy (6), New York, USA does not count Oct 4, 2008 i liked it. not too strong, rich stouty taste with subtle coffee undertone. medium body and slightly sweet lingering after taste. It’s made by Otter Creek...who knew?average carbonation, douglas88 (806), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Oct 2, 2008 Bottle thanks to Mark. Pours a dark brown color with a medium light-brown head. The aroma is very nice; loads of coffee, rich burnt malts, and lots of nutty notes. The flavor was also very good; up front coffee and rich chocolates, some roasted malts and a dry sweet finish. The oats and roasted flavors, along with the nice ABV add a real heft to this beer. Very nice. The only critique I have is it is a bit too thin. But very nice overall. carruthm (430), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 24, 2008 V - medium body pour, dark but noticeably brown. Thin tan head with a slight lacing
A - rich coffee aroma which overpowers most everything else
T - coffee up front, with malts coming through next and then the taste fades into a watery feel with some final coffee bitters. Don’t get much chocolate here.
P - Watery for a stout skibumphishead (170), USA Sep 13, 2008 12oz draft at the Vermont building at the Big E fair in West Springfield, MA. Each of the New England States has a large building full of vendors from that state. The Vermont building had Otter Creek/ Wolavers. 5 dollars for a good beer isn’t bad at a place like this (food, drinks, and arts and craft crap are all overpriced.) It was sweet and chocolaty with no sign of the 5.9% abv. Not bad for a plastic keg-cup beer. The organic ingredients are a plus. I could hear the drummer from "The Monkeys" playing with his band in the background as I sipped on this one.
mcbackus (662), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Sep 4, 2008 bottle: pours a dark cola brown with a huge tan head. aroma has a nice oatmeal smell that blends well with the chocolate, decent toffee malts also i really like the oats in this one. flavour is a bit on the roast side with some good bittering chocolate the oats seem to hide in the flavours but add just a hint of nuttiness. a good sweet stout.
