Really, a sweet stout? Wouldn’t have guessed it. Mostly straightforward types of porter/stout flavors: roasted oats, some coffee, kind of thin, chocolate. Looked like a standard stout. I guess, not too bad. At least it wasn’t a vanilla stout. Ugh.

bottle: pours a dark cola brown with a huge tan head. aroma has a nice oatmeal smell that blends well with the chocolate, decent toffee malts also i really like the oats in this one. flavour is a bit on the roast side with some good bittering chocolate the oats seem to hide in the flavours but add just a hint of nuttiness. a good sweet stout.

Dark brown/ruby black from the bottle. Chocolate smell on the nose. Really quite chocolatey throughout. Roasted malty taste and not overpowering. Finished smooth and a little bit dry. Heavy hints of cocoa in the finish as well. Overall, not a bad brew; a little one dimensional, but I’d drink it again.

12 oz bottle from Pineypower, thanks Dean. Pours a super dark pitch black, small foamy beige head. Aroma of oats, raosted barley, semi-sweet chocoalte, freeze dried coffee beans. Medium bodied that is nice and smooth with tigth carbonation. Flavor has lots of bitterness from burnt malts, semi-sweet chocolate, cheap chocolate syrup notes and just a lot of sweetness compared to typical roastiness. Not bad stuff and since this is organic does this mean I can impress some vegan tree hugger hottie that I’ve gone green??

Bottle. Dark bitter roast aroma, thick coffee and chocolate, again very dry and roasty. Very nice nutty overtones. Dark ruby our looks brown, with a creamy, rocky tanned head. Taste is very dry, nutty with strong roast and just a hint of fruit toward the back, contribution from the oats but without the normal oiliness. Faint earthy hops with dark chocolate and a fresh sort of bean profile, a lovely imitation of coffee. Medium, creamy body, luscious and desirable. Underrated, methinks, as is most of Wolaver’s output – I’d love to come back to this.

the aroma is amazing but the rest falls a bit flat and thin. the malts are a tad off putting and not much on the hop front.
