bottle best before February 2009 from Bruisin’ Ales. What I discovered inside this bottle is a beer that really pisses me off. It pours clear, basically a dark gold color with not even a semblance of a head. Pretty much pure malt in the aroma. It is slightly vegetal and bready. uh, it’s very nondescript. the flavor is a step up, being that it is decently clean, but there are no perks to be had here at all. All i can get is a semi sweet malt flavor and a low level of husky hops, maybe some vegetal character and metallic notes. What really freakin blows my mind is the $12.00/six pack price tag. I’m glad I only bought one bottle, but I still feel very ripped off. The comparable Blowing Rock pale ale I bought on the same trip was not only way better, but only $6.49/six pack. It is safe to say this will be my last encounter with the Wolf Beer (I hope). nearbeer (1858), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA

Clear, darkish orange-golden with a small head that settles to a lasting thin disc. Aroma of honey, apples, cream and dry grass. Flavor had some off-putting, shellacked nutshell notes on the first few sips, but they later mostly disappeared. Followup flavors of grainy bread, sourish apple, honey and a finish of light grass and cocoa. Light-medium body is sorta smooth and sorta tingly at the same time. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 3, 2008 Golden color with a quickly dissipating white head. Lightly fruity in the aroma. The flavor is sweet with some rotten fruit at the start with a rubbery bitter finish. Grainy and unpleasant as it warms. Very soft carbonation. Cant say I enjoyed this one. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 28, 2008 Surprisingly dark - more orange than gold. Thin white head. Spicy, ever-so sweet aroma. Bready, toasty, even a little nutty. Actually pretty good, for a gloden ale. On tap, Flying Saucer, Raleigh.
