Cask. Bronze beer with a cream colored head. Malt, earth, and woodsy aroma. Malt, light citrus, and light grassy flavor. Lighter bodied. Malt, and light citrus lingers with light woodsiness. A bit of cocoa.

Cask (handpump) at the Harp, Covent Garden, April 2009. Darkish copper colour with strong red tinge. Distinct toffee aroma. Fairly sweet mouthfeel but not too cloying. Quite fruity flavour, with touch of hop and toasty caramel malt. Sweetness lingers in the aftertaste. Yes, a bit too sweet overall for my taste.

April 2008. Mid brown ale. Tarty fruityness with quite a sharp bitter finish. A bit different.

Cask at Wetherspoons Victoria. Dark amber body with a creamy, off-white, lacing head. Smell of grainy malt. Dark fruits and berries with moments of acidity. Perfumed impression. Does not quite deliver (London, 05.05.2009).

[Cask at Monk’s Retreat, Reading] Amber, slight loose off-white head. Woody, earthy, some biscuit with mild bitterness. Rather watery for an ESB. Boring.

bottle. Hazy deep chestnut colour, no head to speak of. Fruity and malty with shy hoppy accents. Very low carbonation.
