| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Bottle... Clear, light golden lager with a small, fizzy, off-white head. Decent retention. The aroma is lactic up front, but candy sugar-sweet with rich notes of praline, caramel, deep roasted toffee, unidentified tropical fruit and golden raisins. Hearty malt flavor with heaps of toasted pistachios, cashews and pralines. Candy in a glass, but not cloyingly sweet. Medium to full-bodied with a syrupy mouthfeel and fizzy carbonation. Lengthy, lightly sweet finish. A must try for malt heads! Underrated, I think. A big THANKS to aofoxxy for providing the bottle! Eyedrinkale (3209), Astoria, New York, USA

Theres DMS in this for sure. A bit too sweet though. I’ve never heard of these guys. Skyview (4057), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jul 11, 2007 Sampled at the RBSG ’07 Grand Tasting and picked up in a trade with squire. A second historical Ohio beer brand revived by Barrel House Brewing. This time a late 1930s stock bock beer label. Pours a clear dark golden brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissolves. Aroma of multi-grain cereal, some sour apple, and grassy hops. Taste is highly carbonated, a little gritty with a metalic aftertaste. Finish is grainy and then clean. One of the lightest bock beers I’ve tried. Drjohnrock (95), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA

Translucent amber color, faint malt aroma, light malt flavor overshadowed by carbonation, chemical taste and slight astringency. Better than Shiner Bock but what isn’t? A rare misstep from Barrelhouse--the Wooden Shoe Lager is substantially better. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Bottle at the RBSG 07 grand tasting. Pours a ligth copper with high carbonation and a fizzy head. Aroma is pretty much a diacetyll bonb mixed with grainy corn and DMS. Flavor is straight buttered popcorn with corny gritty flavor, and a weird sugary sweetness. Pretty gross, and I am not even super-sensitive to diacetyl. BDR (2164), Roseville, Minnesota, USA
