2/27/2007: Wooden Shoe Bock pours a deep golden/light amber color (a few shades darker than the Wooden Shoe Lager). It has a small diminishing crown, no lacing, and a moderate level of carbonation. An understated malt aroma masks a deeper aroma that has slight alcohol and faint hop notes. A sweet, malty, and slightly fruity flavor graces the tastebuds. This beer has a stronger alcohol presence, but it is well integrated and adds to the overall flavor (it isn’t and astringent/burning alcohol presence). It finishes dry (much dryer than the Wooden Show Lager). Medium-full body. The Wooden Shoe Bock is another good lager beer. I really am surprised and impressed with the new Wooden Shoe offerings. The Bock is slightly more flavorful than the Lager, but it’s kind of a toss up between the two as to which is better. I could drink bottle after bottle of the Lager, but probably only one or two (at the most) of the Bock in a sitting. Either way, I’m glad that these enjoyable and affordable beers have come back onto the market. Courtesy Amy. An...interesting beer. Very fruity, with some berry and melon notes, also biscuity malt. Did not notice much alcohol flavor. Definitely sweet witha sticky finish. I can’t quite decide if I like the flavor combination or not.

Bottle courtesy of alexsdad06. Pours copper with a dissipating white head. Smells of biscuits and fruit. Tastes of caramel with some sweet malt. Mouthfeel is full with a spicy finish.

Bottle. Golden orange and hazy with a solid bright white head. The aroma borders on yeasty. Drinks with a crisp, clean lagery character, unoffending in any way. Not a hint of 6.7% here. They can sell this stuff in rural Ohio, no doubt. (#3633, 8/8/2009)

Clear honey-colored beer, with a fizzy, short-lived head - aroma of honey, wildflowers, aromatic hops, a little bit of dough - starts off a bit sweet and herbal, like sweetened herbal tea - a bit of hops and flowers arrive afterwards - a mild nutty flavor - gets a little spicy at the end - thins out a little in the finish, so the sweetness becomes a bit much - a decent maibock, though - certainly under-rated.

A bottle from a german pub next to Minster, Ohio (who has authentic german beer the fist wed of every month): The K-village Inn--see my place ratings. Not as good as the lager, hands down--what does that mean. Good start though frothy head with decent lacing; nose with a strong alcohol presence. Lacks any real flavor otherwise and has a dry finish.
