A dark amber brown beer with a weak head. The nose is light with a touch of malt and sweet caramel. The taste is also very light for the strength, with the sweet malty notes again, there is a hint of floral hops in a light bodied, somewhat dry finish. Tasted at The woodforde’s Beer Tent at the 2004 Royal Norfolk Show. (Thanks to Spiesy for those kind words about the R&C, Snettisham, i’m one of their chefs!)

Bottle. Amber coloured with a slim, creamy off-white head. A faint malty and fruity aroma. Malty and fruity flavour with some light hops in the finish. Medium and particularly soft mouthfeel. Good.

Poured from the bottle, a light brown with no head. A slightly malty aroma. Malty again in the favour, though a little tart at first, but improved through the glass. Maybe a bit watery.

Bottle. Murky orange/amber beer with a fairly dry and sour aroma. The flavour is very wine like, and dry with a sweet finish. Overall a reasonable beer.

Cask Conditioned, at the Rose & Crown, Snettisham, Norfolk.
If you fancy nick away to Norfolk for the weekend I can recommend this lovely gastro pub. The service here was wonderful and the food authentically British. The pints weren’t bad either. As well as the Woodfordes Wherry, the Nelsons revenge was brought out to mark a Nelson anniversary. Being Nelson country ’up them there parts’ it was lovely compliment to the food.

Bottle. Very nice. Quite malty, and lightly sweet, touch of caramel, and then some melony, peachy fruit, finish is citric, hoppy. Really nice, soft mouthfeel, full flavoured.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] An amber beer with a small head. The aroma is sweet with notes of caramel and fruits. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel as well as lesser notes of roasted bread and alcohol.
