Pours a clear reddish brown color with a weak ring of light brown lace. Up front the aroma is interesting with toffee, vanilla, dark malt and alcohol but there’s a strong unpleasant iodine presence that ruins it. The flavor is the same with a feeling of rich malt, vanilla, toffee and alcohol but the iodine makes it really unpleasant. Too bad since I feel this would be a pretty good old ale but there must be a problem, an infection or something, oh well....

Robe brune claire sans aucune mousse. Arômes d’iode et de caramel. Saveurs d’iode. Wouah.....! Les deux bouteilles ont un problème évident. Presque de l’iode pure...

Bottle: Poured a deep slightly hazy copper color ale with a small bubbly head with no retention. Aroma is quite complex and hard to describe but I can pick up traces of vanilla and some subtle smoke. Taste is a well balance mix between some vanilla, caramel, very subtle smoke and some oak. Alcohol is well hidden and body is above average but not very full either. Carbonation is very low, almost like an old Thomas Hardy. Very interesting take on an ambiguous style (for me at least!) and I am very curious about trying some aged bottle in a couple of year since I believe age could do wonder to this beer.

A dark rusty red beer, lightly effevescent. A light raisin sweet nose with hints of orange and roses. A light bodied beer, considering its strength. An unusual dry, woody, smoky taste, with an underlying sweetness of raisins and other dried fruit.

[bottle from beers of europe] Pretty sure there was something wrong with this bottle, but I can only rate what i taste. Pours black and flat, no head. Aroma has some fruit, some chocolate and notes of wood and tobacco, however there is a strong, unpleasant, rancid cabbagey aroma. body is flat and dead.

Tjis bottle was off, not surte how far gone, but defo not what the beer was ment to bhe like, however i managed to understand what the beer is ment to be like and so rate on that. aroma is lightly sour coffee malts. Taste has a sharpness from the acidity, with more coffee and a long finish.

All it is cracked up to be! Lovely ruby - brown in colour. It is the ideal Christmas Pudding ale!
