Bottle. Boring. very thin, sweet and grainy. There are loads of lagers i’ve had that are so much better than this. This was dull. Woodforde’s can do better.

Cask, Turf Tavern, Oxford. This was one very pretty pint, party because I snatched the glass away from the ever-attentive Turf staff member pulling the pint before he was able to top up my glass and ruin all the lovely head. Ha! Faster than you this time! Warm copper, nice airy white layer of head that lingers inticingly all the way down the glass. Ah foam. That which make my pints pretty, provides an interface to facilitate aroma dispersal, and proves the liveliness of the cask. Why are you treated with such contempt here in the south? Anyway. Fresh, lightly tart candy hop aroma, a bit of toasted corn, honeysuckle. Candy hop flavor, nice toasty malt backbone. Nothing overly fancy about this pint, but served in good nick and nice all around.

A mid golden orange coloured beer with a thickish white head. A slightly weak hopy nose, some citrus fruit, with a hint of malt in the background. The taste is bitter, dry and hoppy, a little citrusy and floral, but nothing distinctive, then a woody malt flavour in the finish add to the dryness. (Cask - 2007 Cambridge Beer Festival).

A Mes rate: Cask at the disgracefully poor Holborn JDW. Citric and floral all round. Slight biscuit with some malt and tobacco in the flavour but its all just aromatic hops. Finish is only very delicate. Nothing special.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Yellow gold with slight head. Strange to be getting a lager crossover beer at this time of year, but you just never know at your local Spoons. Light and crisp but lacking in the flavour profile. A sharp malt, but where a few hops would help out, they are missing. Bland at best.

Cask at Peterborough Beer Fest 2006. Brand new beer at the time. Clear yellow with a small white head. Pale malt, lemony, mild crisp bitterness. Very soft carbonation. Not much else to say about that generic beer. It’s light and crisp nature would make it refreshing on a hot, dry sunny summer day but unfortunately such a thing doesn’t exist in England.
