Aroma has some light roast and flavor has a bit of bitterness and roasted malts with a touch of sweetness. Light on the ringwood. TheCaptain (555), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 30, 2009 My Bottom Line:
This Stout’s bloated mouthfeel still delivered decent roastiness alongside leafy hops and their bitterness, while discreet fruity esters (blueberries?) brought nascent complexity.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy sheet of foam covers the brown-tinged darkness.
-A simple, nondescript sweetness (caramel, perhaps?) is present throughout.
-In this case, nitro seemed to hide the lack of flavor, although it surely increased drinkability.
-Oatmeal did not show much in the flavor profile.

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 25, 2009 Draft at brewpub. Multiple tastings. I have had everything they have to offer as we come here often for dinner while in the area. As with their food, the beer is OK but nothing spectacular. In fact, most of their beers are in my opinion, sub-par.This one was just OK. green (187), Boston, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | May 21, 2009 Nitrogen stiff head. Heavy dark malt harshness (burnt toast). A bit thin. Some odd flavors seemingly cloaked. Drinkable. VTHopHead (920), Barre, Vermont, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2008 Draft at the brewpub - Poured a very dark black/brown in color with a very thick, creamy tan head. Excellent lacing on the glass. Aroma is slightly sweet with caramel malts with some coffee/chocolate and a hefty amount of darkly roasted malts. Flavor is strong of the roasted malt, medium of chocolate and coffee and slightly sweet toward the finish. Palate was nice and chewy. Excellent brew. Very enjoyable end to an otherwise lackluster tasting session. JoeMcPhee (5000), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 17, 2007 Tap at the brewpub. Pitch black beer with a creamy tan head. Low aroma with only some chocolate and weak coffee coming through. Body is very thin for an oatmeal stout. Nitro wipes out much of the character that normally comes with this style. Comes across more like a dry stout than an oatmeal stout. Doesn’t really do it for me.
