sfontain (500), Columbus, Ohio, USA Dec 2, 2007 Very dark garnet pour with a moderate-sized brown head; head disappears quickly and completely. Aroma is dark, nutty, and roasty. Flavor is very "blah"; some chocolate, some nuttiness and maybe a tiny bit of roast; a little bit tart. Thin, watery mouthfeel. It’s drinkable, but I’m not impressed.
Bungalo22 (282), Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA Aug 30, 2008 Had this from the bottle and poured into a pint glass. It was very refreshing after a long, hard day but I will try not to let that sway my review. It pours a nice amber/brown body with a decent head. It smells of nuts and syrup big time. It was smooth on the taste and malty and sweet. It was a good brown. I would go back - maybe a bit flat though. bu11zeye (3656), Frisco, Texas, USA Aug 25, 2008 (Bottle) Pours a lightly hazy amber-brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of nuts, maple syrup, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor of hops (pine, herbs) , caramel, nuts, and cocoa. DrDavid (200), , Vermont, USA Aug 23, 2008 (Bottle). Both hops and malt in the aroma, with sweetness. Dark brown with tan head. Flavor has a hops bitter bite on top of the expected malt and caramel sweetness, some nuts. Finish is interesting, lengthy with strong nuts and some bitterness. asheft (819), Marburg, Germany Aug 21, 2008 [bottle]
Sugary nutty aroma with some watermelon and bitter grapefruit notes. Clear dark brown with little fuzz. Very nutty flavour with toasted soda crackers followed by watermelony hops. Low bitterness and a bit sweet butterscotch diacetyl. Light to medium body with a sweet finish. kevd193213 (323), Coventry, Rhode Island, USA Aug 17, 2008 Bottle. Dark brownish amber pout with a fizzy tan head. Aroma of malt, and spices. Taste of burnt malt, sugar and a slight hoppy finish.
