MoritzF (3865), Ruhrpott, Germany May 10, 2008 (bottle) Clear, copper colour with a big light-beige frothy head. Sweet, aromatic toasty malt-character with caramel, liquorice and subtle dried fruity notes. Quite bitter flavour, almost full bodied with a soft and pleasant carbonation. Toast-malty taste, quite elegant and not too fat with caramel, liquorice and herbal hops from the beginning; almost dry and pretty bitter toasty and herbal hoppy finish. A balanced Doppelbock that works all day (08.05.08.).
pivnizub (3822), Porúří, Germany Jul 10, 2008 Bottle (purchased at the Brauerei): Clear, chestnut-amber coloured with reddish spots; small foamy beige head; quite solid sweet nose: sweet dark malt, dried morilles, raisins and some molasses; moderate to soloid sweet-bitter flavour, medium to full bodied, a bit sticky; illusions of hops detectable in the sweet-bitter, dark fruity to vinous finish. A bit on the malty side, but all in all a very decent Doppelbock.......
