Commercial Description:
With 1643 Original Lagerhell, Würzburger Hofbräu has succeeded in creating a product line specifically designed for young and young-at-heart beer drinkers. The beer in the ‘cult’ wired opener bottle, which has been gaining in popularity for years, certainly has the right stuff for pushing the region’s other trend beers into the shade. It is has a definite mild taste and for this reason is increasingly a favorite among women.

Good mouthfeel, and refreshing to taste some malt in a lager again. Smooth means dry in this case and yet it doesn’t disappoint. Let the sweet finish convince you to try this one.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Slightly hazy, golden coloured, mid-sized white fluffy head, breaking down slowly; sweet-grainy nose with a metallic tinge; light sweet-bitter flavour, medium malty body; bready finish with a tinge of sourness, some "medical" hops in the aftertaste. Liquid bread, but from a great factory............

(swing top bottle) Hazy, pale golden colour with a mid-sized creamy white foam. Slightly sweet grainy and strawy nose. Light bitter flavour, light to medium body, well-carbonated, creamy mouthfeel. Slightly grainy and buttery taste, also a touch of cardboard; dryish, light bitter malty and herbal hoppy finish. Drinkable, but not that great.

Thanks to Shrubber85 for this excellent bottle of beer! It was not a swing-top, but the beer was fresh enough that it barely made a difference. The fact is, this pale lager is WORLDS better than any other pale lager I’ve ever had EVER. It’s a shame, I’ve gotten used to rotten pale lagers. Honestly I was surprised to find one with such a pleasant aroma, a subtle, sweet flavor and a mild, smooth palate. This beer kept me interested whilst lulling me with its easiness. I hardly know where to begin.... I’ll come back to this one.

I can’t believe how good this pale lager is. Holy crap. Good malts, sweet, honey taste, balanced carbonation, and an almost creamy mouthfeel. Outstanding. I would drink this all day.

NIce appearance with lots of carbonation dancing around. Well satisfying with not much definition in flavor. just an all around decent Lager. But pretty good as the variety goes.

Bottle - A very nice lager. Flowery, fruity aroma with a good head. Spectacular grain flavor with well blended hops and a surprising subtle orange aftertaste. This is a great beer. Unfortunately it does not age well - bottles I brought back from Germany with regular bottle caps take on a metallic flavor. In the flip-top bottle, this is a spectacular beer so if you’re able to get it, defintely do. However in a regular bottle it loses quite a bit and becomes much more average.
