Gold color, little malt in the aroma. Thin body, watery and disappointing. Lacking in the malty/ crisp/ dry palate a good Dortmunder/Helles should exhibit. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Nov 6, 2004 Bottle. Slightly hazy luminous gold, giant foamy lasting head. Nose alas somewhat skunky, but with a bit of grainy malt and hints of stark hops. Malt and light lemony acid on the tongue, rather sweet. Not really that good, but drinkable. I’m sure this wasn’t at its freshest. Gmku (255), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 23, 2004 Purchased on a lark, at a Hilton Head package store. Dusty bottles, bottom shelf, unrefrigerated. How long had it been sitting there? I remember liking this brewer’s pilsner when I lived in Germany. Interesting to note that this is not really an Oktoberfest, but, as the label says, a beer "for Oktoberfest." So it’s really a Dortmunder/helles, and as such, it’s not bad in that style. Grassy hop aroma, straw color, short on the malt but just sweet enough. Still, a bit thin on flavor and watery in mouthfeel. A bit skunky--the green bottle should have been a give away. dirtymike (2018), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/20 | Feb 14, 2004 Hazy yellow with a chunky white head that sticks around with good lacing. Smells like a skunk walked by my house 5 minutes ago. Full mouth feel is only redeming quality. Dirtymike just dumped his out, I didn't think that it was that bad. What are you opening? Hold on, let me dump this out. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Jan 28, 2004 An oktoberfest? More like a skunkfest. Yellow appearance with a moderate head. Skunky grass aroma. Some off bitter notes with a hint of sourness. I may be missing something seeing all these rave reviews but IMO this a wet grassy dog! jgb9348 (2515), Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 18, 2003 Hazy golden colour with a thin white head. Fairly yeasty aroma with high levels of sweetness and malt. Medium-bodied; Subtle sweet flavour with some other flavours. Aftertaste left with a very small subset of the sweetness and spiceyness. Overall, a wierd beer, not an Oktoberfest at all (a bit deceiving in the name). I bought this twelve ounce bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and tasted it on 17-October-2003.
