Hildigöltur (5109), København, Denmark Dec 30, 2003 Rather thin and weak. Grassy aroma. Roasted flavour. Dry and slightly hopbitter finish. Tessic (439), Brantford, Ontario, Canada Dec 27, 2003 Pretty poor for a stout.
Hints of grass and instant coffee, almost like you've taken a teaspoon of instant coffee. Not good at all.
Brian (144), Ontario, Canada Dec 4, 2003 Nice color, average head, burnt aroma. Blandly bitter with no special flavor coming out. Some coffee flavor but mostly burnt. mds (2112), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 11, 2003 Black as night. Brownish lace, no head. Roasty malt aroma. Bitter. Not really a good choice, I don't think I'd get it again. SilkTork (4155), Rochester, Kent, England Nov 11, 2003 Updated: Sep 14, 2008Nov, 2003I’ve not exactly fallen for the charms of the Black Wych, but she is a little tempting. Smokey, tobacco aroma with some damp coffee grounds; roasty notes in the flavour with a soapy finish. Not a first class example, but much better than I expected from the Wychwood brewery. Mine was from the bottle and so lacks freshness, but it’s damned acceptable. Quite thin bodied - almost like a mild. [3.0]
jazz88 (2235), San Francisco, California, USA Nov 9, 2003 Bottle. Dark brown color as I could see a ruby tint through the middle of the glass. If I couldn't see the dark color I could have mistaken the aroma for a bad foreign lager. If I was generous I could say there was a malty nut aroma. How could a stout go so bad? AndersR (194), Århus, Denmark Nov 5, 2003 Dark brown, almost black. Small tan head that dissapear fast. Hints of coffee and chocolate nose. Same with the taste: lots of coffee and choclate. Not the most interesting stout i have tasted, but worth the dough.
ಠַಠ (1375), San Francisco, California, USA Oct 30, 2003 (clear) Bottle. Looks like a typical stout. "Peppery dishwater" aroma was Andrew196's description, and I can't say it any better. Solid but uninteresting flavor. Slimy mouthfeel, bad finish. Drainpour.
