Some hops kick in at the very end but except for this the flavour is thin without a lot of malt backbone. GonZoBeeR (2163), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 17, 2004 Agree with Silk, it’s a mild. So why call it stout? Very dark brown. Aroma coffee, chocolate, caramel, malt, all quite subdued. Thin mouthfeel, short finish. Did they say hops? Exactly how much is a broomful? GiBrew (171), Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada

Aroma is some hop, baking soda, notes of coffee and a bit skunky. Flavours are hickory salty and smoked salmon. Moderately dry finish. Finn (1510), Tromsø, Norway

Very sweet impression and hardly any bitterness. As a stout this is rather watery. A ladies’ beer? VeloVampire (491), Parkdale, Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 28, 2006 Updated: Dec 10, 2006500 ml bottle - pours a deep brown/black with a decent tan head. Faint notes of cocoa and fruits and very little else. And that’s trying really hard - there’s really nothing distinct in the aroma or taste that stand out. Taste of sour grapes and a hint of roasted malts and some bitterness, but not a hoppy bitter - not much here, thin and watery. There’s nothing, well, stout, about this stout - matter of fact, it’s more like a dark brown ale, and not a very good one at that. I wanted to love this beer, I really did - I like the gimmick and the bottle, but the thing that counts - what’s inside - sadly doesn’t deliver. beerbuzzmontreal (2924), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 7, 2004 Black color with some brown hues. Mild aroma of roasted malt. Mild flavor of roasted malt. A very average stout, I’m not a fan of this brewery, the beers I’ve tasted from them range from ordinary to awfull : Hobgoblin, Fiddler’s elbow and this one. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 17, 2003 Cask Conditioned, at the Hobgoblin, Holloway, London. Dark brown with a thin tan head. Delicately sweet, soft aroma. Some sweetness to start but turns into a super dry and bitter finisher. Everything in this beer has been scorched to death. The palate and mouth feel is thin, more like a mild then a stout.
