Nice beer but not much of a stout. A shame because this brewery produces some excellent beers. The stout is lacking in texture, smoothness and body.

This is a stout? Honestly, this seems more like a bitter to me. A taste of coffee, obviously from the roasted malt. Not a stout. A weak bitter, with a dark color. Flimsy head, that when poured from 8 inches away from the glass, created only a two inch head. It's drinkable, but then again, I like cold coffee too... As far as a stout, this one tastes like a wimp.

Black in colour with some hints of red. There’s hardly any aroma to this beer, and hardly any flavor either. There’s some suggestion of black patent and some caramel malts, but those flavors are faint at best. The body is also thin and watery. The only real stout like quality that it has is its colour.

Bottle. Dark brown colour with a baige head. Dark fruits, light roasted aroma and a thin light roasted fruity taste. Light body and a boring finish.

Nice black color, but apparent even on inspection that this would disappoint. Virtually no aroma--or at least, not enough to survive the half-senile old man chain-smoking next to me in the pub, despite the fact that I got my nose so close to the beer that I ended up snorting it into my right nostril. If anything, a faint smokiness like a piece of charcoal you discover in your BBQ grill the next spring after having left it on the patio since the previous September. Oddly large bubbles retained on the glass. Sweet flavor, but without any support through the finish. (cask at Hobgoblin pub, Oxford; a Wychwood pub)

Dark red with off-white head. Very skunky aroma, probably due to the clear bottle. Flavor thankfully not as bad. Malty, slightly bitter. The aroma and palate ruined what could have been a good brew.
