Sample- 500 ML bottle- Poured a light brown, cocoa coloured head. Suprisingly, the head lasted the length of me drinking the beer, which I haven't seen often. Aroma is malt and fruit, a nice pleasant odour. Taste is bitter and hoppy, with the hops just barely coming through. Went down smoothy, and left a nice aftertaste in my mouth. A decent stout indeed!

A thin stout, but not a bad brew. Looks and pours like a cola - head dissipates remarkably fast for a stout. Nice (again "mild") roasty aroma. The taste is good, albeit a bit on the mild side for a stout. Taste actually fades in mid-swallow leaving a decent bitter aftertaste. Not a traditional stout, but it quenches adequately.

Light black hue, with no head, light burnt malt, coffee, hint of chocolate, shy hop aromas follow through on a light-bodied dry palate, of coffee, liquorice, burnt flavors, in a mild dry finish

Black reddish colour. Medium tan head. Roasted malt aroma with some fruityness. Some liquorice, coffee and chocolate flavour with floral hints. Thin bodied. Short aftertaste.

Black with a nice brownish head. Aroma from tar, sweet fruits and cocoa. Flavor brings toffee, licorice and cream. Bitter and from coffee. Peppery finish.

Bottle. A near-black stout with mahogany highlights. Mild aroma of treacle and roasted malt. Medium body holds more of the same, along with some chocolate notes that manage to linger on the palate for a little while. Decent, but rather plain and lacking any real depth of character. Really not as bad as most ratings would suggest.

Dark ruby color with small creamy brown head. fresh hoppy "menthol-nose". Mouthfeel starts hoppy then turns roasted with hints of licorice. Palate is quite watery. Light roasted aftertaste. Ok as a session beer but not much more.

Bottle (500ml - clear!). Poured a clear, thin-looking dark ruby-brown with an average light brown quick-diminishing head, decent foamy lacing left behind. Bread dough yeast, light chocolate and coffee dark roast malt, a hint of hops, little bit of sour cherry. Taste follows the nose exactly, but starts balanced milk chocolate sweet / hop bitter, finishes more hop bitter with coffee notes dominating. Incredibly thin mouthfeel, not creamy at all ... this is a stout???? Re-rate December 2007 (not clear bottle) - original score 6-3-5-2-12=2.8
