Nice taste and mouthfeel, but thin and lacking the body of a real stout. Strong coffee, a little minty bitterness and a hint of chocolate.

500ml clear bottle. Black, ruby highlights, tan head comes on strong at first but thins out. Roasted aroma, also somewhat nutty. Roasty flavour with a bit of an iron like bite, some coffee notes. Dry finish. Medium bodied. No skunky notes at all, which is not typical of most Wychwood bottles I get.

Bottle (500ml - clear!). Poured a clear, thin-looking dark ruby-brown with an average light brown quick-diminishing head, decent foamy lacing left behind. Bread dough yeast, light chocolate and coffee dark roast malt, a hint of hops, little bit of sour cherry. Taste follows the nose exactly, but starts balanced milk chocolate sweet / hop bitter, finishes more hop bitter with coffee notes dominating. Incredibly thin mouthfeel, not creamy at all ... this is a stout???? Re-rate December 2007 (not clear bottle) - original score 6-3-5-2-12=2.8

Roasted malt with sweet bitter finish. I enjoyed this beer. While it is not the most demanding brew, it (at least my bottle was) is a decent dark ale.

Bottled. Fresh aroma, lightly hopped with a hint of butterscotch. Very dark brown color, brown head, fair lace. Blackcurrant, roasted, light sweet, blackberries in the finish. Sandy dry, medium smooth. Just a light stout and that’s it.

Black color; thin creamy head. Reasonable aroma, roasted malt and a touch of liquorice. The taste besides the roasted malt and liquorice/caramel is not really surprising, and the final just strong. Above the average Stout, with no emotions.

Black with a tan, medium-sized head. Roasty liquorice aroma. Sweet-ish, roasty flavour. Long bitter finish. Drinkable but pretty simple.

Very dark with a brown small creamy head. Roasted, light sweet aroma. The taste is bitter roasted malt. Quite a good ber but nothing extraordinary.
