Dark ebony body with a tall brown head. Aroma is coffee, slightly smokey. Caramel, licorice and roasted grains; traces of dark chocolate. Bitter finish. Smooth but still a bit too watery. I believe Silktork when he says this tastes more like a Mild than a Stout.

Clear black body with a minimal tan coloured head and some traces of lacing. Medium bitterness, medium body, thin feel, average carbonation, some rich chocolate notes also some liquorice. Not a real great stout although I gave it extra points cos it went down a treat. Better than a dark lager but not a real stout.

Bottel - 500ml. Pours a black body with rubyish glints. Its brownish frothy head tends to fade quickly. Fair malty aroma with hints of roasted coffee, chocolate, and brown sugar. Taste is OK, but it is a way too bitter and dry for a stout. I suppose that this may be due to clear bottling. Long oaky aftertaste. Not really bad, and probably better on tap.

Dark brown stout, with beige lasting head. Liqourice flavoured with some burned, toasted elements as well. A bit bitterness in the finish. Underlying sweetnes. Not quite the velvety palate that is promised on the label. Overall an average stout.

[Sampled in 2004.] Black as the night and aromanotes of coffeechocs. Flavor is similar, but a bit watery in the end. Could be the bottle and I better rerate thisone another day.

Black, nice head. Aroma is roasted and from tar and cocoa. Flavor brings licorice and cocoa. Not as good as many other stouts.

Foamy tan head on a dark brown body with a read gleam. Weak aroma of malt and a little coffee. Flavor is malty and grassy with notes of coffee and citrus. Mild but easy drinkable!

This beer isn't much of a stout but it's flavourful nonetheless, a little on the sweet side. Overall a decent beer but there's better beer out there.
