Simple, sweet chocolate candy aroma with a touch of vanilla. Dark chocolate in the mouth, licorice and a hint of mint, late finishing bitterness, thin body, a bit of unpleasant lactic sourness...a mixed bag, but OK overall I guess, not undrinkable anyway. wnp22 (682), Toronto (Roncesvalles Village), Ontario, Canada

Dark licorice like pour with a mocha colored head with good lacing. Has some bittersweet chocolate notes in the flavor with trailing hop bitterness. Pickup some oatmeal hints as well. Not too complex, just a decent session stout. Mouthfeel is a tad too thin for a stout - my only real complaint. larsniclas (3385), Gothenburg, Sweden

Really dark.
An IPA-like fresh hoparoma.
Rather thin to be a stout.
Flavour from coffee and/or dark chocolate. Choos (504), Taylors Hill, Australia

Apperance: black with red highlights clear, tan small head, patchy sud lacing. Flavour: carbon, sweet malt, hint of nut and notceable hop bitterness. Palate: bitter/carbon finish and thin. Jokingly my girlfriend has written "god damn HOT label!!!" on my tasting notes since it was visuallly so impressive (despite the clear bottle.) tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 1, 2004 Chalky roastiness and licorice and chocolate in the aroma. Darkest brown with thin tan head that recedes to partial cover. Sweet milk chocolate flavour with mint and licorice notes and some light roasty bitterness in the salty finish. Smoky character to the aftertaste. Medium-light body is perhaps a touch watery. Bottle (clear). sayravai (3733), Helsinki, Finland

Malty aroma with forest mushrooms. Burned, malty and dry flavor with licorice and sweetish aftertaste. Maybe a bit too carbonated and light-bodied for a stout, but not a bad beer by my standards. wanderingman (54), Guelph, Ontario, Canada

First off it didn’t have the typical black, opaque colour of a stout, rather a dark brown that was lighter around the edges. Taste was way too light for a stout. Had some elements like coffee, some sweetness (toffee?) and a subtle bitterness as well. Aroma was caramel and malts.
