A dissapointment to say the least. I expected much more from this one, but like Phil Mickelson in a major, I was let down in the end. (Except for that one time, Phil.)

Bottle, at home (031031). Black with reddish head. Aroma moderate malty (burnt, licorice) and hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter.

Bouteille-Stout noire avec un semblant de rouge crèmeuse, mousse épaisse. Goût de terre, d’épice et de malte rôti, une stout de deuxième catégorie mais agréable--Bottle-Deep dark red. Thick tan head. Earthy, spicy hop aroma with roast malt. Not a great one but ben plaisant!

Bottle, can’t recall where I picked this up from as its been kicking around for some time now. Pours dark brown/black with a thick light brown coloured head. Aroma of roasted malts and some coffee, taste was roasted and did have some chocolate and reasonable bitterness, but overall I found this to be a tad thin and lacking somewhat.

500 ml bottle - pours a deep brown/black with a decent tan head. Faint notes of cocoa and fruits and very little else. And that’s trying really hard - there’s really nothing distinct in the aroma or taste that stand out. Taste of sour grapes and a hint of roasted malts and some bitterness, but not a hoppy bitter - not much here, thin and watery. There’s nothing, well, stout, about this stout - matter of fact, it’s more like a dark brown ale, and not a very good one at that. I wanted to love this beer, I really did - I like the gimmick and the bottle, but the thing that counts - what’s inside - sadly doesn’t deliver.

Dark black and very little white foam head. Aroma is bland and somewhat skunked, malty. Flavor is smightly chalky from the initial bitterness, then follows rather boringly.

Dark brown with a frothy tan head. Aroma is some hop, baking soda, notes of coffee and a bit skunky. Flavours are hickory salty and smoked salmon. Moderately dry finish.

On bottle 0,5l at Tromsø Ølfestival 17 Aug 06. Dark golden. A creamy lasting head. Very sweet impression and hardly any bitterness. As a stout this is rather watery. A ladies’ beer?
