greedycheater (80), Oklahoma, USA Feb 28, 2008 Mild, malty, smooth and warm aroma. Off-white head that doesn’t last long, but has good lacing. Color is dense and murky, a deep copper-brown. Looks and smells tasty...let’s see. Syrup, the flatness of malt, followed by the spark of hops with a slight metallic end that finishes creamy. Unique! Full bodied over the tongue, leaving the lips less sticky than other dark malty goodies. I’m disappointed I bought only one.
improvjock (56), USA Oct 7, 2008 Pours a dark amber with medium off-white head. Roasted malts on the nose, malty and coffee/chocolate on the finish. Not bad, but probably not quite worth the price I paid for it. blutt59 (776), Dallas, Texas, USA Oct 5, 2008 bottle, dark amber pour, light colored head, nose is like balsamic vinegar, flavor is astringent as well with some light dry cocoa, finish is a bit watery fidel (204), Livermore, California, USA Oct 5, 2008 Dark redish amber, roasted malts, caramel, bready, nutty, little fruity, slight hops. pkbites (257), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 5, 2008 Pours a dark brown w/slight reddish tint, almost like a cola. Beige head goes flat instantly. Malty nose with some banana bread. Caramel and chocolate flavor. But there’s something else in it that I can’t describe. Like an artificial taste. I don’t like it, and it drags this way down. Short after-taste. This stuff tries, I mean it really tries. But that unusual taste in the backdrop is killing it. Gr0ve (1113), Oslo, Norway Oct 4, 2008 500 ml bottle. Dark brown with reddish hue. Tall light beige head that clings to the glass. Nutty rich münchener malt aroma. Earthy hops. Smooth texture. Fine carbonation. Powdery malt flavours. Slightly roasted and sweet. Almost vinous. Reminds me a little of the character one finds in Old Peculier. Nice and very drinkable.
