Pours golden with lots of bubbles. A small, frothy, white head on top. Very mild aroma, some bready malts and a bit of citric hops. Highish carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Okay flavour, light malts, some fine, balanced hops, citric and grassy. Still rather dull, though. Beth101 (317), West Yorkshire, England

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 22, 2007 11-Nov-07 (500 ml bottle: Purchased 09-Apr-07 for $5.60 at Liquid Solutions in Tigard, OR and stored in the fridge) Rather simplistic on the palate, but more flavorful than a good many of the English bitters I’ve tried. Unfortunately, the flavor isn’t really all that interesting or enjoyable. It’s a little bready with a pleasant toffee finish, but minimally sweet. The hops are gently spicy while contributing a slight bitterness in the finish. The breadiness is more noticeable as the beer warms, but also, the beer begins giving an impression of saltiness. Not much aroma, mostly toffee with a faint hop backing. Light-medium in body. Carbonation is very lively when sipped, but it’s very soft on the palate and almost immediately subsides. Yeast sediment cakes the bottom of the bottle, and most remained there because the golden-amber body shows only a modest haze. The off-white foam grows to two inches on the pour, and slowly settles to a quarter-inch for most of this lengthy session. Lacing is delicate and doily-like in nature as it leaves patches over much of the glass. Overall, it’s easy to drink, but just a little too easy. kp (8396), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
