bhensonb (2686), Woodland, California, USA May 16, 2008 Bottle as Our Glass. Earthy malty aroma. Amber color with a two finger beige head. An old ale aroma for sure. Medium body with creamy carbonation. Flavor is malt with something like medium dark or dried light stone fruit. This is great stuff. The mildly roasted malt is set off by some bitter hop. I can’t describe it, so you must just try it. It is very, very good.
Geth_in_beer (598), Nova Scotia, Canada May 27, 2008 Bottle. Eathy aroma, a little nutty. Dark ruby red in colour with a thin lace. Looks damn good. Nutty flavour, earthy. Smooth texture. Flavoursome ale from Wye Valley. BlackDonald (610), On a beer trip all over the USA, California, USA May 5, 2008 Ourglass - I thought this was pretty thin overall and devoid of any compexity. Slightly bitter upon first taste, sour, dried fruits, somewhat astringent and some light bready maltiness. ultraspank (853), Dublin, Ohio, USA Nov 20, 2007 Nose of dried fruit, berries, caramel, and bourbon. Smells alot heavier than 6%. Pours a clear garnet with a smallish creamy off white head that is mostly diminishing with very light lace. Balanced start with lightly tangy acidic middle. The finish is long with slight bitterness, and again notes of dried fruit, and flowers. The medium creamy body is flat. It doesn’t happen often that a brew tastes better than it smells, but this one does. Very well done, and would make a lovely session offering. Hoping this gives me some relief from my stomach virus. Palidor19 (1165), Brandon, Florida, USA Nov 18, 2007 A rich malty beer with deep caramel malts. The hops have a deep herbal flavors. The taste of the beer gives a real presence of English ale
