Commercial Description:
Cask; Seasonal - June to September.
A light, refreshing summer ale brewed using pale, wheat and amber malts. Very well hopped with Target, lots of Fuggles, and East Kent Goldings. A pleasing gold colour with lots of bitterness throughout and a distinctive malt character from the amber.

Cask Handpump at the George & Dragon, Great Budworth 14/07/2003 Golden coloured with some wheat and hop aromas. Lasting bitter malt finish.

Cask@Chelmsford BF. Quite corny, but oddly as a slight burnt malt flavour comes through, didn’t really sit well with me to be honest, corn on the cob.

Beer #22 at Chelmsford Beer Festival, with Duff. I have to echo some of the other comments here about it not being a typical summer ale. Not that crisp and I detected distinct smoky notes in the aroma and a sort of burnt corn on the cob taste. Weird, but intriguing. Cask (gravity dispense).

Gravity at Olde Dolphin Inn Beer Festival, Derby. Strange - a faint whiff of chocolate? Really rather malty, not particularly crisp or refreshing, not what I’d expected.

Cask Conditioned, White Horse Hedgerley, Bucks. Gravity dispense, poured by me. Started off ok, but has some weird roasty/caramel aftertaste that isn’t at home in a summer ale.

Cask Conditioned, at the Wenlock Arms.
Bright golden colour, shiny white head. A little short on flavour, especially given the quality of their bottled beers. I must say that I was excited to see it on but disappoint at the result. For better or worse everyone’s doing a summer ale this year.
