Aroma of roasted malts, and some coffee also a little bit of caramel. Nice coffee bitter flavor blends with some smoke over a great bitter dry background. Palate is fairly creamy but finishes nice and dry as a dry stout should. Definitely drinkable and not bad for the cost ruggedman (619), Portland, Maine, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 17, 2005 Coffee, malt, and slight chocolatey flavor and aroma. I liked this stout...it was really dry and kind of bitter. I think it’s a good deal better than it’s ratings lead you to believe. turbo (1254), Arizona, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 14, 2005 Cool bottle! poured black with a good creamy chocolate head.
Weak aroma of roasty malt and coffee.
Flavor is a bit watery, light roast and coffee with a metalic flavor that lays on the palate.
Not bad. frankenkitty (1902), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 13, 2005 Body was dark (although I’ve seen darker) with hints of mahogany highlights, topped with a holding, rocky tan head. The hot pin-up on the label bumps the appearance rating from 4 to 5. Initial "new carpet" smell gets covered quickly by roast, smoke, caramel and coffee. Head is quaffable but slightly metallic. Slight raisin/prune-fruitiness to flavor resting on a solid bitter base. Great body, not too thick, not too thin. Nope... nothin’ really wrong with this one.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2005 Sampled from bottle. Pours opaque blackened-brown with a generous tan head and frothy lacing. The beer’s about as attractive as the label. Aroma is like a mix of mocha and expresso and a hint of some soured milk. Flavor is nicely bitter, quite malty with a heavy dose of roasted/burnt malts. Full-bodied, well-carbonated and pretty easy to drink. A pretty good dry stout. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England

Roasted malts and coffee in the aroma. Same for taste, dry with nice bitterness throughout. Smooth, full-ish bodied; good stout. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 21, 2005 The bottle poured an almost opaque deep brown beer with a large, light tan, smooth and long-lasting head. The lacing was beautiful. The aroma was of roasted malt with earthy undertones. The body was large with ample carbonation and a texture that almost deserved to be chewed. The flavors were of robust coffee and roasted malt. There was a bitter coffee ground flavor that came out in the middle and the bitterness lasted through the long finish. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 7, 2005 A smooth and satisfying bottle-conditioned stout with a bitter edge to its roast flavours. Oh, wait. That’s the commercial description! It is fairly accurate. The brew pours a deep, dark brown color with reddish highlights and sports a tall chunky light brown head. The aroma is roasted malts, barley, some coffee, and a stick of licorice. Fairly smooth to drink, it’s nonetheless a bitter stout, very roasted and very dry. And very tasty. The finish is dry and abrupt. Not too shabby.
