500ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2008)
Jet black, healthy head. Smells like an oatmeal stout. Creamy body, some coffee and chocolate. Thick, but very drinkable. No harshness, very smooth. Sessionable. (6-5-6-4-13=3.4)
Rerate: (6-5-7-4-14=3.6)
Cask (St Urho’s, Helsinki, Porter and Stout Days 2009)
Soft sweet roasted malty aroma. Taste is bitter from burntness. A touch of oatmeal too, and milk too in the aroma later. Maybe the burntness is too astringent at times. Maybe not. On the whole very tasty. downender (2615), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England

Aroma of chocolate, licorice and a touch of of roasted malt. The flavour had plenty of chocolate and coffee with a decent dry finish. This had a lot more character than the bottled version. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 5, 2007 22oz. bottle into pint glass. Pours a deep, dark brown with a THICK than head that laces very well. Heavy aromas of coffee, roasted malts, and chocolate with a slight hint of cinnamon. Flavor is a tad sweet at first with a hint of caramel and has a bitter malt finish with hints of dry grain. Only negative is the thin, over-carbonated mouthfeel. Very nice stout. brewblackhole (1384), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
