richlikebeer (747), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 18, 2007 500 ml bottle, head was freakin huge...i could only get half the bottle in a 20oz glass, and it didnt fade down anytime soon..it sat on top like soft serve ice cream for about 5 minutes.when i finally got down to the beer, i got a healthy nose full of roasted malts, and some fruitiness, along with a bit of hops. flavor was the epitome of a dry stout. the malts were heavy on the roasted side, but not tons of coffee or chocolate, and a solid hoppy tail that balanced off the roastiness. a solidly built and enjoyable beer.
mcsquint (21), , Missouri, USA Oct 13, 2008 Poured from 1pint 9 oz bottle into large mug, black in color with dark red when held up to a light source. HUGE foamy tan head. Surprisingly little lacing as the head fades. Aroma mostly of bittersweet chocolate with a hint of roasted coffee. Tastes quite good. Heavy semi-sweet chocolate overtones with some coffee notes. Strangely carbonated; almost like a soft drink. Has a very quick finish.Overall, very tasty, but there are better stouts for the money. bbrock81 (193), Le Mars, Iowa, USA Oct 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a dark brown with a crazy huge head that filled 2/3 of the pint glass. It took me about three pours to finally get all the beer out of the bottle. Aroma is of chocolate, a bit of roastiness and coffee. Flavor is the same, more sweet than I’d like, not nearly enough roastiness or bitterness to balance it out. Certainly drinkable, but not what I am looking for in a stout at all. Ughsmash (3085), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Sep 9, 2008 Bottled. Poured clear, medium reddish-brown with an explosive cap of beige head that filled up the glass. The aroma picked up sweeter caramel and chocolate notes with a mild, dry detergent presence.. decent. The flavor had dry-roasted chocoate with light coffee bitterness surrounding.. toasted barley and more chocolate at the end. Light-medium bodied, dry, and grainy on the palate with a short finish.. creamy carbonation made it kinda hard to drink. oteyj (346), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA Aug 27, 2008 Pours dark brown with huge lively head. Aroma is roast and a bit of chocolate. Flavor is very sweet with loads of chocolate. Dry on the finish, and a bit light on the palate. mcox90 (365), Wilton, New Hampshire, USA Aug 2, 2008 500ml bottle purchased at Wilderness Wines in Rangeley, Maine. Pours a clear, cola like brown with a Huge, frothy tan head. Nose was chocolate with an odd metallic scent in the background. Palate was dry and thin. Ms. Goodbody could use a little more body. Flavor was the usual dry stout flavors, molasses, semi sweet chocolate & some coffee. Decent, but uninspired.
