Commercial Description:
This addition to our beer menu is a stronger version of an American Brown Ale. Chocolate, crystal and amber malts combined with a generous amount of two row pale give this ale a rich and complex character. Cascade and Willamete hops balance out the notable malt and alcohol aspects of this beer.

On draught at the brewpub. This brew is a brownish-orange color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, sweet caramel and a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a bittersweet chocolate and hops aftertaste. Decent all around.

Drank it at Wynkoop from the tap (well in a glass). A pleasant, well-hopped but smooth and flavorful ale. Malt flavors got better as it warmed up - I ordered it while I had a stout and let it warm up!

Tap @ Wynkoop: Poured a mostly clear deep copper-brown color with an off-white head an nice lacing. The hops are strong and cover most of the malt. Some fruity character as well. The flavor was malty with caramel and fruit. Some sweetness. Hoppy middle and finish. Nice warmth.

At the 2007 Big Beer, Belgians, & Barleywines Festival in Vail. Pours brown with a thin off-white head. Has a roasted chestnut aroma. A malty thick palate with a tingly long finish.

On tap @ Wynkoop poured a hazy dark brown with a minimal amber head.Aromas of chocolate, carmel, toffee and a hint of nuts. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of nuts, carmel and light chocolate with a smooth finish.

One of my favorite beers of all time. Dark in color with a smooth and distinct flavor.
