| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Very black in color with a vividly contrasting white topcover of foam. The roasted aroma is defiantly acrid. The flavor is smooth for such a big roasted coffee-like taste. This is very true to style. I like. BDR (2161), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Oct 18, 2007 Draft at the brewery during GABF. Brown-black with a frothy off white head. The aroma is light sweetness underneath very light roasty grain. Very light and simple. As for the flavor, I thought this was the most sessionable beer of the entire trip. I mean, you could really just sit their and slug this stuff back (at least that’s what I thought). Easy drinking with a light hint of sweetness and well blended/balanced grains. Medium body, smooth mouth feel. A fine Schwartz. The only thing I felt was lacking was a bit more hint of roasted grain, but then it would not have been as sessionable. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2007 Had on tap at the brewpub in Denver. Poured a dark black and had little head by the time it arrived at the table. Faint aroma of roasted grain, but nothing strong. Flavor is of black licorice, chocolate and toasted grains. Nothing stands out about this beer, but it does goes down extremely easy.
