| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Oct 2, 2006 On tap at the Wynkoop Brewery 9/27/06. Opaque in color, head left quickly. Aroma is clean, but dominated by dark malts--almost like a dry stout. Flavor--definite roastiness with some residual sweetness. Finishes dry and light. Overall, originally I tanked this beer, but after reading the BJCP guidelines for a schwarz again, it’s pretty close. I thought it was a little sweet for a schwarz, but evidently a little residual sweetness is acceptable. Braudog (3773), Dayton, Ohio, USA

This delivered a nice tight licorice-laced flavor with just a hint of chocolate. Good warmer. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA
