Draught, Wynkoop, GABF week 2006. Head is mostly diminishing. Body is murky dark brown. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), with a note of buttered popcorn. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.

Draft at Wynkoop. Dark brown. Nose is dark malts, light cocoa, and soft choco notes. Taste is more dark malts, wheat, and cocoa. Body is medium with a near full carbonation feel. Ends with more malt, cocoa and some chocolate.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear brown color with thin off white head that laced the glass. Aroma was a combination of dark cholcolate and and astringent varnish. Chocolate came out again in the flavor along with a touch of clove and banana. Eh.

On tap at the Wynkoop Brewery 9/27/06. Medium brown color, cloudy, thin head. Aroma is dominated by roast--some light banana in the background, maybe a little wheat. Flavor is somewhat stale. Weiss yeast is definitely there, but dominated by roast. A little thin in the body. Overall, not a fan of this one....the recipe needs some work.
