Draft. A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet woody combined with light notes of brettanomyces. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of berries as well as a light note of brettanomyces, leaing to a dry bitter and woody finish. Nice.

On tap, served in a wine glass. Hazy orange beer. Citrus aromas. Interesting mix of fruity sweetness, sour, and bitter. I was told it is a mix of the current batch and last year’s batch which was left to sour for a year. Alcohol around 11%.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours dark amber with nearly no head. Has a pronounced tartness to this very odd beer. I really could not figure out what it was supposed to be. My guess was a Belgian brown ale. The alcohol heat seems high and unbalance. The finish is chocolate-like, but quick.

Tap @ Wynkoop: Poured a lightly hazed copper color with an off-white head. Belgian yeast aroma. Some tartness and seamed to have some earthy leather notes. The flavor was lightly tart and estery. Sweet and malty. medium body.

Draft in a goblet at the brewpub. Brown sugar-colored and flavored. Whiskey and oak, vanilla, sweet tart and more whiskey. Very nice and unique strong ale. Good finish to my afternoon at the bar. (#3140, 10/12/2007)
