This beer needed to warm up slightly from the serving temperature but as it did it revealed the complexity of the chocolate malts. There wasn't much hop flavor in this beer but then if you threw handfuls of hops into malty brownish beers we'd all be cloning Stone. The malts progress in a wave of bready chocolately undertones. Nary an off flavor in this wonderful low-key yet complex brown ale. My wife commented that no beer had hit the spot like this one in quite some time. Ringo (959), Loveland, Colorado, USA

I love brown ale and being 8.1% is the icing on the cake. It is very malty, and has an extremely chocolatey aroma that (fortunately) didn't translate too much into the flavor. It's actually a very interesting aroma. If this guy made more beer like this I might vote for him. Volgon (2490), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA

This brew is a brownish-orange color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of burnt malt, caramel and hops. Medium body with flavors of roasted malt, sweet caramel and a touch of dark chocolate. The finish is roasty with a bittersweet chocolate and hops aftertaste. Decent all around.
