| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2006 On tap at the Wynkoop Brewery 9/27/06. Very clear, light amber color. Thin, light tan head. Aroma is light caramel and toffee, very light hops. Flavor is malty, toffee upfront with a smooth bitter finish. Palate is a little thin. I don’t think they’re using scottish yeast on this....would be better if they did. Overall, a nice beer--good flavor/aroma, but a little dry in the finish. Dogbrick (2901), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a dark brown color with a thin and rocky white head that burns away pretty quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel and candied fruit as well as some malt. Flavors of caramel malt and toffee along with some sweet fruit. The finish is smooth and sweet with a caramel malt aftertaste, along with a touch of hops. Overall this is a unique take on the style, and it is a pretty good beer. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2005 Draught @ Wynkoop Brewing Company in Denver, Colorado. Indeed, it does have an attractive mahogany color, with a wispy covering cream. Lightly peaty, malt-accented aroma, with hints of malty goodness (caramel and toffee), as well as hints of molasses and gummy fruits, mainly dried grapes (before they become raisins). Flavor is lightly malty acidic and very toasty, with an easy-going peat malt presence, but definately not smoky. Leathery and soft palate, with a variety of fruit flavors. Another pretty tasty beer from Wynkoop. GeneralGao (3071), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 15, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. Clear garnet color with a thin white head that didn’t leave any lace. Light malty caramel aroma accented by a whiff of alcohol. Slightly sweet on the tongue with a touch of roasted malt. Carbonantion was on the low side which was a bonus.
