patrick767 (2016), fort wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 10, 2009 tap at the brewpub - Pours near black with an aroma of roast malt and lactose. It has a sweet and milky flavor that carries right into a fairly sweet finish. There’s a light to medium body and in my opinion needs more body. There are some good flavors there, but it’s a little watery too. dnstone (134), , New Jersey, USA Sep 20, 2009 Clean, sweet aroma on pitch black appearance with nice light tan head. The body is a bit too sweet which masks the rest of the potential flavor. ratman197 (3135), Arvada, Colorado, USA Jul 12, 2009 On tap at Wynkoop poured a clear dark reddish brown with a lasting creamy pale tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, light roastiness and a hint opf smoke. Palate was light to medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of milk chocolate and light roastiness with a smooth milky finish. agillespie81 (190), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 9, 2009 Black color...opaque. No head whatsoever, though it was poured from a growler. Malt aroma, with a somewhat roasty nose. Pretty sweet malt flavor up front...smooth mouthfeel, however a tad light in body. Sweet maltiness continues in the back, accented with subtle vanilla notes. Finish is mild, with just a hint of roasted malt. Plenty of sweetness, yet not quite as bold as most milk stouts...this brew is very drinkable, though just a tad off balance. Nuffield (2718), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 9, 2009 Very sweet, like a malto-milk. Smooth. Rich head, off-white. A gentle bourbon/vanilla note in the finish with plenty of milk chocolate and malted milk flavors going on. Delightfully drinkable. A bit flat on the palate, but good. On tap at the brewpub. Lubiere (4462), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Mar 17, 2009 A deep dark stout with a thick resilient moka head. A sweet fruity stout with buttery notes. In mouth, a rather light stout, buttery, oily and on the cloying side. On tap at brewpub, 24 Jan. 2009. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Mar 1, 2009 [Feb 23, 2009]
On tap at the brewpub. Pours ruby red/black with a decent head. Aroma is pretty mild on this, it kind of reminds me of a simple chocolate drink. The palate is light and silky. I normally like more robust flavors from a stout, but the smooth milk chocolate and gentle malt sweetness are probably best understated rather than overly sweet. There isn’t much else going on here. I liked it for what it is: a light boded but flavorful enough sweet stout. I could easily put down a few of these over some games of pool upstairs.
