Had this beer on 11/7/1998. Color is a pale burnt orange, carbonation is light and head is low. Aroma is not good, smells like a sour wine. Nice malty body and a crisp bitter finish.

Draft. Rye aromas and some caramel sweetness rising from the copper-hued ale. Plenty of caramel and malt on the tongue. Lots of hop bitterness, but still quaffable. Hop finish is balanced by the sweet malts at play in this beer.

Draft at Wynkoop. Copper body. Nose is hoppy, spicy, some fruit notes and caramel. Taste is more caramel, light fruit notes, spices, light hops, and a hint of toffee. Body is medium with moderate carbonation. Finishes with more hops, semi-sweet malts, light spices, and fruit notes.

Draught at the brewpub. Clear orange color with thin white head that left a bit of lace. Light spicy aroma with a touch of biscuity malt. Flavor was similar with a touch of dried fruit. Subdued bitter finish.
