Very dark brown beer out of the bottle with a short lived brown head. Very sweet nose with lots of brown sugar and molassess. The sweetness continues into the flavor with brown sugar, molassess, melted Kraft caramel squares, with a little burnt grain notes in the finish. I would not have guessed that this is a South American beer. Too sweet for me.

Bottle. Sweet aroma, nothing special. Good appearance - very dark with a decent amount of tan head that leaves good lacing. Soft and drinkable with an unoffensive taste. You do pick up a hint of anise as there are no strong roasted malt or coffee flavours to swamp it. Easily quaffable, I actually enjoyed this more than many higher-rated Schwarzbiers I have tried. Probably a good gateway beer to begin to convert lager drinkers to dark beers.

Thanks Daknole. Pours almost black with some red. A nice 2 finger tan head. Faint head is roasted nut and lactose. Interesting flavor is chocolate syrup and canned milk. Some sugar, spices, and sweet fruitiness as well. Sweeter than most but interesting.

Dark black with ruby highlights and a tight finger of tan head that settles into a thick ring. Big dry roasted malt aroma. Taste is liquid chocolate and big roasted malts, body is nice and heavy.

Similar to the German variety, it has a medium body, a slightly sweet start and a faintly bitter finish. Not very complex, just OK.

12oz bottle served in a shaker pint. Poured a deep brown/black with a finger of tan head. Nose of chocolate and some noble hops, a little fruity. Sweet, slightly roasty flavor. Medium bodied, fairly rich, smooth mouthfeel. Lots of sweet malty flavor. Very drinkable.
