| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 16, 2008 A bit disappointed. I had someone build this up for me, but must say it was less than stellar. It’s good don’t get me wrong, a great session, but not really remerable. It’s aroma contain dark malts, no noticable hops, and really no sweetness or fruit esters. It’s appearance is a very dark color mahogany - brown. It’s head is a tan color, with exceptional tan lacing. It’s flavor is just sort of hmm. It full of dark malts, but not much more, nary a hop, hot so much as a bit of coffee. I did not notice the anise or licorice, I sort of expected. It was very smooth, it lived up to its tartness claim. Very nice, but sort of forgettable. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA

Hence the schwarzbier categorization, I suppose. Nice brown head. Its appearance is awesome. Its aroma malty sweet, and its taste solid and much more tasty than most Latin American lagers. My tongue is reall enjoying the sweetness, holding on to it and even savoring nearly against my will. Wow, I’ve had way too many beers from south of the border today for my tongue to be holding onto this one for dear life. blipp (1748), Newark, New Jersey, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours deep ruby brown with a tan head. Aroma is lightly sweet with caramel and a hint of roasted malt. The flavor is very bland. A touch of roasted malt and some underlying sweetness. Not a bad beer but pretty weak style wise.
