Pours near black with a rocky tan head that fades quickly but laces the glass. Aroma is of roasted malt, molasses, licorice, yeast, and brown sugar. The flavor is sweet, roasty, and resiny. Light-medium bodied, and a slick, watery mouthfeel. Quick, dry, resin finish. shanepardue (107), Raytown, Missouri, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Oct 11, 2009 I had this beer at fogo de chou, a brazilian restaurant, this beer pours very dark with a huge brown head, this is a great beer to drink while eating meat. Over all this is a graet beer. monkeychugg55 (241), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 2, 2009 Pours a very dark brown with a rocky tan head. Nice lacing. The aroma has a lot of roasted barley, some molasses, anise, and light grain. Interesting flavor. Mostly sweet roast and coffee, with a bit of tart dark fruit. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Abrupt finish that leaves a flavor I can’t quite explain. Weird beer, but in a great way. sfhodense (575), Odense NØ, Denmark

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 29, 2009 Bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost completely opaque body. The head was seriously long lasting tan color which reminded me of a fluffy cloud. Nice lacing. Very weak aroma of roasted malts, yeast and some bready notes. Smooth, creamy medium bodied mouthfeel. Flavor is lightly roasted malts, with faint sweet caramel. Watery finish. This beer was pretty mild, not bad, but missing some good flavors and aroma I’m looking for. Nicko (191), Ashfield, Australia
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Sep 26, 2009 Bottle. Yeast and licorice aromas. A little sweet, a little roasted taste. Slick oily palate, unpleasant aftertaste. simonbilyk (59), Maine, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 19, 2009 12oz. Really dark and lets only a tiny amount of light through at the edges. Pours like olive oil. Aroma is like a porter, maybe some molassess. Very sweet up front, some grain bitterness in the middle. Finishes sweet and with a whiff of resin, the resin is more a sensation then a flavor. Unlike any other beer I’ve tasted. Yay beer!
