Picked this one up at random and was pleasently surprised at what a good beer it actually was! I have no idea why this one is lingering around in the 57 percentile. Pours black with a red tingue, and gives off a very thick tan head. The taste is a lot like a weaker Siberian Night, complete with licorice aftertase and everything. A mildly bitterness on the finish, which was nice. I expected some coffee taste, but was greated instead by a creamy and smooth texture. Its a bit watery, which was its main downfall, and I would have liked it to be a bit bolder, but it was still a nice treat. I would have this again, and suspect maybe the low ratings are due to that "MolsonCoors" name. troopie (909), USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Bottle. Poured black with large foamy tan head. THick lacing. Big malty aroma. Malty flavour with a bit of bitterness. Moderate to thin body. Faint finish. Still a worthy lager, meant to be drunk cold, and good with spicy food. This would be a good bier with braai. kidmartinek (1001), austin, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 4, 2008 A dark black beer, moderate tan foam. Smell like sweet and sour malt. Taste is smooth and mild with sugar, malt, and fruit present. Not bad. estoppel (1028), Buffalo, New York, USA

Some dark esters and mild hops. Tastes kind of thin but almost a molasses flavor comes through as if the sweetness is not from malt. But very thin. Almost reminds me of Amber Bock. It’s like they try for a style but just seems lacking. TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Good dark Lager. Nice pour with a very dark coffee mocha look. Head was creamy and frothy when served. Remembering evenings relaxing at a Jazz club sipping this with a cigar. Great flavors of dark chocolate, roasted taste but not a dark beer bitterness you would expect. Guinness4Duff (507), Tallahassee (and Poconos, PA), Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 24, 2008 Has the look and taste of a sweet porter or stout, but with none of the bitterness. Very interesting beer, something different for me anyway. ShawnMalloy (120), Auburn, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Pours black as the name suggests. There’s a decent tan head. Somewhat malty. Light finish. I’d compare it to Sam Adam’s Black Lager.
