Jan 18, 2008 Sampled at a beer tasting in Concord, New Hampshire (USA) on Jan 18, 2008. Wonderfully dark brown pour with a light brown head. Nice sweet and malty aroma. It also seemed crisp and clean. Medium mouth feel. I didn’t think it was bitter at all. Very good.

Jan 14, 2008 Aroma is quite interesting... heavy on the malt, sugary, red wine, molassses, and chocolate. Pours almost completely black into the glass, with hints of ruby or mahogany at the bottom. Had a very small tan head. Taste is slightly bitter, of alcohol, caramel, and molasses. The mouthfeel is a little thin, with watery and chocolate aftertastes. Quite smooth.
12 oz. bottle.

Jan 8, 2008 Pours a dark brown, almost black into the lager glass. Slight hints of light came through the very edges. A small half inch head was tan in color, but faded quickly, before I took a sip. Scents of malt, chocolate and some hops. Very drinkable with notes of coffee, caramel, chocolate and malt. Almost tasted like a light stout. A sessionable dark beer that left a clean finish.

Jan 6, 2008 12 fl oz bottle at Chamas, Durham, NC. Never tried this one before. I was looking for a dark ale and this was the darkest they had. It pours black with little to no head. Aromas of molasses and roasted malts. The taste was slightly sweeter than I had expected but it was really very good. Again, the molasses flavours came through with hints of liquorice and aniseed. Definitely full bodied, creamy and easy to drink. This was my favourite drink over this past Christmas.

Jan 5, 2008 [828-20071106] Bottle. Aroma has a roasted fruit skin malt characteristic. Dark brown red body with a quick foamy light brown head. Roasted malt flavour. Medium body is thin. Nothing special but not bad.

Jan 3, 2008 Updated: Jan 6, 2008Poured a dark, ruby red with limited, tan head. This one lost some of it’s aroma-flavor upon the taste. However, it was very smooth and drinkable with little aftertaste. A tame, malty brew. Very good.

Jan 2, 2008 Pours a deep black into the glass with almost no head at all. Aroma is roasted grain. Taste is smooth with a hint of chocolate to it. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin side.
