Nice milk stout-like flavor, though not have full in body. VERY vlack in color. In fact, when I held it up to a light it only showed a little dark garnet red where the light traveled the quickest through the glass. Nice head at pour, which disappated when starting to drink from the glass. Sweet aftertaste on the palate. No aroma per se. Airlifter (116), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 14, 2006 Very dark, with a thick head that dissipated quickly. Mild, earthy aroma. Lightly carbonated, but not flat. Interesting flavor...chocolate, cola, maybe Dr. Pepper? Very lightly flavored for a dark. Cool label kicks it up a a notch...talk like a pirate while you drink this one. lovemyipas (420), sw burbs, Illinois, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Sep 8, 2006 Boring appearance, almost balck with no head. Smells like funky oats, almost like oat cereal. Strong malt flavor with a subtle sweetness, similiar to licorice. A bit thin and a slightly roasty bitter finish. Not bad. Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 5, 2006 12 oz bottle pours a reddish-brown with a very thick, micro-bubbled, mocha colored head that leaves trace lace on the glass. The slight hint of sweet maltiness is all I detect. The taste is very subtle at first; an earthiness that fades into a slightly hoppy and nutty finish. The mouthfeel is very creamy, smooth and just slightly fizzier than I prefer, but this may be just a schwarzbier or Xingu thing. iowaherkeye (1863), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Pours black with a small brown head--not quite as pretty as the picture. Aroma is caramel, nuts, some woodiness--the aroma isn’t terribly strong. Taste is a little bit of cardboard, watery caramel and sweet (not sugar, because granulated sugar has its own taste--this is just sweet). There is a tiny bit of bitterness midway through, but that’s it. This is mainly a sweet beer. Some slight chocolate does show up in the taste as well. Medium bodied and creamy, moderate carbonation. A decent beer. stiffy42j (67), Brunswick, Georgia, USA

Light body but boasts a strong sweet taste of carmel and chocolate.....its slightly creamy and goes down smooth. Leaves a buttery gloss on my lips!? Icould use a little something more there at the end...but hey...for a lager, this is pretty good. shigadeyo (2263), Harrison, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 8, 2006 Aroma: Mostly caramel, maybe a hint of chocolate.
Appearance: Deep, dark brown color - almost black. No head. Pleasant amount of carbonation.
Flavor: Sweet, caramel, a very faint taste of nuts like black walnuts. A touch of bitterness at the end to balance the sweet malt flavor.
Palate: Very light, a little watery.
Overall: This is a very smooth brew and actually quite tasty. No too expensive either. I would buy this again.
