Pours dark with an ample tan/brown head. The aroma is a lovely, beery molassas with some prominant yeast. The flavor too is sweet molassas cut by a very nice lager yeast providing enough depth and interest to make this a pleasure to drink. Quite a tolerable quaffing beer. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2006 The 12 ounce bottle poured a clear dark garnet colored beverage with a medium sized smooth tan head that was mostly diminishing and left some lacing on the glass. The aroma was nicely balanced between malt and hops. There was a subtle presence of caramel malt with chocolate and coffee notes. This was accompanied by an equally subtle floral hop presence and dried fruit notes. The body was medium-full with a soft carbonation and a smooth, creamy texture. The flavor started off slightly on the sweet side exhibiting a subtle mellow, dry fruitiness. The finish was medium-long during which the sweetness continued to mellow. This was an unexpectedly pleasant beer drinking experience ... well done. radagast83 (1302), Fairfax, Virginia, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 7, 2006 bottle. Pours black with some reds and a small tan head. The aroma is caramelly and mildly musty. Definitely retains noticeable lager characteristics amid the subtle chocolate notes, it even hints at corn in the finish, but never becomes unpleasant. This is a satisfactory brew. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 3, 2006 A nice black beer that poured with a single finger tan head. Lacing was excellent. The aroma was a light coffee sweet smell. The flavor too was light coffee with a touch of molasses. Rather sweet and moderately bodied. A nice beer. maltdog (515), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | May 30, 2006 Exits the bottle in a rich medium brown stream. In the glass, the opaque liquid sports a short camel head with salmon (!) undertones. Gentle sulfur/lightstuck lager, sweet stewed fruity notes, and rum-raisin in the nose. Mellow and sweet; almost honeylike. Barest hop spice and roasty dark malt flavor. Pleasant enough, yet one dimensional. Far sweeter than I remember it being five or six years ago... this current bottle toes the line of dessert beer. Mildly carbonated. Palate is smooth, satiny, viscous. Spice cookie aftertaste suggests cinnamon and nutmeg.
